Hi,
I have found that sequencing can be an advantage if you do not use the MSO (or APB) to do you planning of shop order operations.
The benefit is that the sequencing will actually schedule your operations within the capacity of the work center. In this way you will actually have finite planning for the chosen operations in the relevant work center even though you are not using the more advanced finite scheduling in MSO/APB.
It is true that you can setup the characteristics to be used in the sequencing. If you do not then you can simply apply an operation priority to decide the which operations to plan first, second and so on. If you do not apply characteristics or priority, then the operations will simply be scheduled in the same sequence as they are scheduled before the sequencing, but the going forward or backward from the timing your decide.
It is a simple but quite handy “finite” scheduling-option :-)
