Hi, using Apps 10 and i am having an issue with scheduling operations within a work centre.

we have individual work centres and labour classes for each 4 operation within a routing and only 1 person in each of the labour classes.

the schedule capacity on each of the work centres and labour classes (and individuals within the labour classes) are set to finite in order for MRP to see the constraint when scheduling.

How even MRP is run it schedules operations to start before the previous operation has finished which is physically impossible. (see below)

On the inventory part there is also a 1 day order gap to try and stager the shop orders being released.

why is MRP ignoring the constraints of the work centres and labour classes or am i doing something wrong?

regards

Jamie

MRP does not consider the Finite Scheduling Capacity on Labor Class and Work Center. That parameter is only applicable when scheduling shop orders using IFS Advanced Planning Board or IFS Constraint Based Scheduling.

When those are not used, shop orders are scheduled using the standard infinite shop order scheduler which schedules each shop order without taking any other shop order into consideration.

In IFS Cloud and IFS Apps 10 Aurena you can also use the “Sequence Shop Order Operations” to schedule operations so they do not overlap for a work center resource.

Hi Bjorn

thanks for the reply and helping be to understand the logic behind what it is doing.

is APB or CBS the best practice for scheduling shop orders ?
