PMRP Supply for Phantom Parts

Hi,

During an investigation, I came across a scenario where a Customer Order was created for a Phantom Part, and a Shop Order was also manually created for the same Phantom Part. Both orders were connected to a Project. After executing PMRP, I noticed that an MRP Action Proposal was generated with the message "Need Orders".

What I find confusing is that the manually created Shop Order has a finish date earlier than the Customer Order need date, meaning it should be able to satisfy the demand. However, the MRP Action Proposal still indicates "Need Orders".

Is this because the supply from the Phantom Part Shop Order itself is not considered by PMRP/MRP? I can see that supply has been generated for the component parts beneath the Phantom Part structure, which suggests that the Phantom Part is being exploded and planned at the component level.

My question is: Why does the MRP Action Proposal display the message "Need Orders" even though there is a Shop Order for the Phantom Part that appears capable of meeting the Customer Order demand? Is this expected behavior because Phantom Part supplies are not recognized as valid supply by PMRP, or is there another reason for this result?

I guess you kick of your PMRP execution like this:

 

Not selecting the yellow marked Phantom Part Dependent Demand Message, right?

For P- and K- Phantoms

Then the PMRP/MRP message logic is: “Well let check if we have any independent demand?” - and that is it. If there is an independent demand like a customer order line demand, generate Need Orders message. The thinking has been: “oooh wow we have an independent demand for a phantom part - we need to supply it => Raise the Need Orders message!” We should probably improve the solution here.

    Hi ​@majose ,

    Sorry for the late reply.
    MRP is executed with enabling the above mentioned “Phantom Part Dependent Demand Message” toggle button. 

    When it is enabled MRP Action Proposals will give a result as “Need Orders” even though the Shop Orders are available for the Phantom Part as I explained initially.
     

    If the toggle button is disabled, it will not show that “Need Orders” message, but MRP will create demands for the components associated with that Phantom Part.

    Are there any disadvantages like missing MRP action proposal messages when not enabling the button "Phantom Part Dependent Demand Message"?

    It is harmless Nipuni.

    When I scan the code it is only used for this MRP message itself. It does not impact any netting logic whatsoever.
