A. Brief description
Some manufacturing processes require additional finished units to be produced for destructive or non-destructive testing. These units are manufactured together with the quantity required by the original demand, but they are not part of that demand and may be destroyed, damaged, or released as usable products depending on the test result.
IFS Cloud does not currently provide a clear and traceable way to distinguish the quantity required by the original demand from the additional finished quantity required for testing. This can lead to manual adjustments, incorrect MRP quantities, unclear supply availability, and limited traceability between production planning and quality assessment.

2) Workaround
The current workaround is to manually increase the Shop Order quantity or use scrap quantities or scrap factors on component demand. These approaches do not distinguish test units from normal demand and can produce incorrect MRP results, especially when several parent Shop Orders generate demand for one manufactured component. Additional quantities may be multiplied across individual material demand lines instead of being calculated once for the resulting component Shop Order.
D. Evidence and examples
Example:
Three parent Shop Orders each require one manufactured component, creating a total demand of 3 pcs. The resulting component Shop Order also requires 1 additional finished piece for testing.
The required result is:
- Demand Qty: 3 pcs
- Planned Test Qty: 1 pc
- Total Manufacturing Qty: 4 pcs
When an additional scrap quantity is entered separately on each parent Shop Order material line, MRP may calculate 6 pcs instead of the required 4 pcs.
The required test quantity may depend on the Shop Order lot size, a percentage of the demanded quantity, the selected Routing Revision and Routing Alternate, or the related Project Deliverables Item. The attached document contains the complete business scenario and expected behavior.
