Hello Community,

Good Day..!!

We are using IFS 9. We have found one issue for the Inventory parts revisions. Suppose there are 9 revisions created for a Part then we can see that all the 6 revisions are showing active. Due to this system is considering the very 1st revision while considering the component parts from the Bill of material. All the 08 revision are phase out then also this is happening and to avoid it we need to cancel all the earlier revisions which were in the Plannable state to canceled state then only the last revision getting considered by the system.

Can you please guide why erlier revision are get activated. For all the parts this has happened.

Hi @Deepak ,

Firstly, when you keep the Product structures (BOM) in Plannable status then these are only considered for planning purpose Eg. MRP and cant be used in actual shop orders.

To answer your question why the previous revision of the BOM are still in effect even if they are phase out because these BOMs are treated as still active between the the time period of Phase In & Phase out date and if there are any supplies to be produced during this period system will consider this BOM.

For example: if you have 2 revisions for Part A where revision 1 phase out on 31/05/2023 and revision 2 phase in on 01/06/2023. If you have demand for the part A which is having a lead time of 30 days and wanted delivery date of the demand will be 20/06/2023, then when you run MRP, system does backward scheduling and find that a shop order need to be created for Part A on 21/05/2023 ( considering 7 day working week) then system consider you BOM revision1 not Revision 2.

This is reason why older revision is considered in your case. Now, if you dont want system to consider older revision you can cancel all old revisions in Plannable status and backdate the latest revision phase in date.

Hope this is clear!!
