In Shop Order Cost, Actual Cost tab, we have “Total Accumulated Cost.

In Shop Orders Costs, there are “WIP at Aggregation Date”, and “Actual Accumulated Costs Total” fields.

All of these fields have different values on some shop orders.

What are the differences between each?

Which field is best to use to determine the current actual accumulated cost of a shop order?

Thanks,

Eric

Hi @ewats,

Total Accumulated Cost

This column displays the total cost for this level and all underlying levels in the part's structure.

WIP at Aggregation Date

The cost of work in progress for the shop order, as calculated on the last aggregation date.

Actual Accumulated Costs Total

This value is shown in the Shop Orders Costs overview and comes from the aggregated shop order cost calculation.

Aggregate Shop Order Costs per Shop Order: This task is used to calculate the aggregated costs for shop orders to be displayed in the Shop Orders Costs window. All open shop orders in the given site will be processed. If the shop order costs have been calculated previously, the previous aggregation result is removed and new costs are calculated. For closed shop orders, the system investigates if the shop order costs need to be recalculated. Standard estimated and actual costs and work in progress values for each shop order are captured per shop order. The system logs when the last aggregation occurred. This timestamp can be found in the Last Aggregation Date field in the Shop Orders Costs window.

So, each 3 elements that you have mentioned represent different costs and having different values for those values it understandable. The values in the Shop Orders page depend on the date you run the aggregation job but in shop order cost actual tab represents the more real time values, no need to run the aggregation job.

Excellent explanation. I wasn’t aware that Actual Accumulated Costs in Shop Orders Costs was also based on the aggregation. Thanks Yathartha!

Hi,

I can fill in a little bit extra info here. I mean it is Friday ;-)

When it comes to WIP at aggregation Date. Here system really look at the postings, and to be exactly looking at the debit & credit balance of the M40 (Work in Progress) and M16 (Ship WIP to Supplier). And since this WIP is calculated when the aggregation runs, it could be interesting to follow up on site level. So as an example you could schedule this aggregation job to run at the last hour of a month. This could be interesting input for Finance.

And you should know, as soon as you start to receive parts on a shop order, the WIP starts to get reduced. Once the shop order is completely received and closed, WIP is 0.

For closed shop orders, after an an aggregation, the Total Accumulated Cost in Shop Order Cost page and Actual Accumulated Costs Total in Shop Orders Costs page should match.

Cheers,

Mats
