Hi everyone,

We’re currently preparing our migration from IFS Apps 9 to IFS Cloud, and besides the functional transition (e.g., Project Delivery → Deliverables), we’re also exploring the reporting side of the migration.

Specifically, we’re looking for experiences from others who have:

  • Migrated from Crystal Reports to IFS Report Studio, and

  • Worked with Report Designer reports in Apps 9.

We’re wondering:

  • How did you approach the migration of Crystal Reports — did you rebuild them in Report Studio or use an alternative strategy?

  • How mature and flexible is IFS Report Studio in your experience?

  • What happens to Report Designer reports from Apps 9 — are they still available and functional after migration to IFS Cloud, or do they need to be redeveloped?

We’d love to hear from anyone who has hands-on experience or best practices to share around this reporting migration path.

Thanks in advance for any insights,

Best regards,
Jesper

Most customers so far have upgraded to 25R1 or earlier, so Crystal reports still work.  It only becomes an issue with 25R2 and beyond.  What to do for each Crystal report is a hot topic as you can guess, and can be report by report basis.  For Operational reports, you can rebuild in Report Studio or Designer.  This can be eased by tools that some partners have to assist with the conversion of the layout to Report Studio, but it is likely some additional work is needed to get the report functional.  There is a new External Report Gateway that can be used for Operational Reports too, if you have a webservice that it can connect to that can generate a pdf of the report.

Report Studio is not currently very mature.  It can handle simple reports without issue, but as the complexity of the data structure increases then it starts to hit problems.

Report Designer reports will come across to Cloud fine.  There may be some obsoleted fields that need to be removed from the layout, but that is likely to be few and far between
