Question

Manufacturing Control Plans and Partial Shop ORders

Hello,

When a Manufacturing Control Plan is connected to an IFS shop order, the inspection sample size is calculated based on the total shop order lot size. The analysis must then be completed for the required sample size and confirmed before the shop order can be closed.

Is there a standard way in IFS to release, receive, or ship only a partial quantity of a shop order while continuing to use the Manufacturing Control Plan?

Our desired process is:

  • Original shop order quantity: 100 units
  • Partial quantity to be released/shipped: 40 units
  • Inspection sample size recalculated based on the 40-unit partial lot
  • Analysis completed and confirmed for the 40 units
  • Remaining 60 units retained on the original shop order or processed separately

Can IFS recalculate the control plan inspection sample size based on the partial quantity being released, rather than the original shop order quantity?

If this is possible, what is the recommended IFS workflow or configuration? For example, should we use shop order splitting, partial reporting, child shop orders, or another function? Also, how should the control plan and open analysis be handled when the shop order is split?

Thank you.

Hi @kmarmolejo,

Have you tried this setting for this process? It might well have the desired effect.

I believe this has been changed in later releases so it uses the operation quantity rather than the shop order lot size. Additionally you can now trigger the analysis results to be created automatically when the operation is started rather than the shop order. Then based on the operation quantity at this time.
