Looking for a robust process to change a part from Serialized to Lot/Batch Tracking?

We are using Apps 10.

We are following the guidance from a previous question in the community “Can a part that has been serialized be un-serialized later?”

To start, we cycle counted out all the inventory that was in stock.

We confirmed there is no stock in transit.

When we toggled off Serial Tracking At Receipt and Issue we got error message “Receipt and Issue must be enabled if the part is serial tracked in inventory”

So we started again and toggled off Serial Tracking In Inventory and got the error message “Condition code can be enabled only in combination with Inventory Serial Tracking and/or Lot/Batch Tracking”

So we started again and togged off Miscellaneous Part Settings, Allow Condition Code and got the error message “Condition Code usage cannot be disabled if an inventory part exists”.  However, we don’t have any inventory on this part.

Hi Heather, does the part you are trying to change have any alternate parts?

the system won’t let you change it from serialized to lot tracked if any of the alternates are serialized

Hi Ana - Thanks for your response.  No there aren’t any alternate parts.

We’ve been in contact with our IFS Consultants.  So far it looks like if you have the field Condition Code = Enabled, then you cannot change Serialized to Lot/Batch yourself - even if there is no stock on hand.

The next step we are exploring is doing a batch upload to make the change.

Would it be ok for you to delete the part? Try to delete the purchase part, inventory part, sales part (if they exist) and then finally the Part Master. Then you should be able to re-create it.

Hi Anmise - Thank you for your reply.  We’re not a fan of deleting parts that we’ve previously transacted against so are trying to avoid that route.  We’re going to try a data load to replace the values next with the help of our consultants.  Cheers, Heather

Were you able to resolve this with the data load you mentioned?
