Is it possible to change the part ID of product?

Hi team,

Is it possible to change the part ID of a product due to its use? After a time, the product is no longer valid to its main functionality but it can be used for other purposes and the customer would like to change the part ID?

Has anyone tackled a similar issue?

Can't change Product ID. You need create new Part.

Hi @salpes ,

It is not possible to change the Part No of an item, once it is created, without going for a data repair. But, since the part had been used long (transactions are created with the part), data repair option is not recommended, and should not go with it. To me, the best solution is to create a new part, and set the old part’s status to inactive, so that users cannot use it.

As mentioned, Part ID is not possible to change. However, the description field could be edited as per th requirement and that could be used as a possible workaround to relay the change in part number for reference.
