Hello,

I am hoping to clarify something with regard to Phantom part settings. If you use the Phantom Planning Method or set the part on a product structure to Phantom Consume, that means the part with backflush components of the part if none are in stock, correct?

As an example Sub Component 123 is made of parts 321 and 456. If you set PN 123 to Phantom or Phantom Consume on the product structure of the part it goes into, if you have nothing in stock of 123, it will backflush 321 and 456 if they are in stock?

will IPAP continue to show demand for part 123? I am seeing that it does in both instances (Phantom and Phantom Consume settings).

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi;

The setting “Phantom Consume” in the Product structure is valid only for Repetitive Backflush which takes place during Production Schedule Receipt from a Production Line (Not from Shop Order)

When a Component Part is set as Phantom by setting the Planning Metod 😛 in the Inventory Part, then once the Shop Order is created, the system checks if enough Phantom Components are available to supply the demand for the Shop Order Material Line, if so the Phantom Part (123) will be added to the Shop Order Material Tab.

If not enough Phantom Components (123) available in the Inventory, then system will list the Components of the Phantom Part (321 and 456) in the Shop Order Material Tab, then you would not see the Demands for Part 123 in IPAP.

@dameenda Yes, the SO does create with the Phantom parts exploded, however IPAP still shows demand against the PN 123. That is what is creating confusion.

These MRP Planned demands are created once MRP is performed and you have Demands for the Parent Part like unreleased Customer Order line for the Parent Part or Shoop Order requisition (SHOP Order is not created yet).

Seems MRP need to create MRP Planned Demands to blow through its components of the Phantom Part 123, but MRP never creates supplies for Phantom Part 123.

If you check the IPAP for the components of Phantom Part 123, you would see MRP Planed demands created for the Components of the Phantom 321 and 456 with the Phantom Part 123 as the “Source Information”

and MRP supplies created based on the availability.

so what you see as MRP Planned demand above is never meant to supply by MRP
