I need an inventory part for water that will be used in bills of materials and production orders.

I would like its consumption/issue to be recorded in the production order. Is it possible to do this without receiving it into inventory first?

I created an inventory part called “zero cost forbidden”, but in order to issue it from a production order, I first have to post a receipt into inventory (as an alternative solution, this works).

I tried using “Negative On Hand Allowed”, unfortunately without success. In this case, it seems that there must also be at least one received quantity in inventory before an issue can be posted.

I also tried “Allow as Not Consumed”, but then it is not possible to issue the item from inventory.

Is there any other way to record the issue/consumption of water for production while having an inventory part with zero cost and no inventory quantity?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hi @maurycy.gawlik,

No, it is not possible to issue/report any component in a Production Order without having Inventory Stock.

Instead, you can add one more miscellaneous operation in product routing like Water Issuance and report that with zero cost.

Thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately, adding a new operation in product routing will not work in our case. In that case, the remaining option is to receive the water into inventory at zero value and issue it traditionally in the production order, just like the other inventory parts.
