In IFS Cloud, Person Resources are not assigned directly to a Work Center.

The standard setup follows the hierarchy:

Person → Resource → Resource Group → Work Center

Step 1: Create or Verify the Person Resource

Navigate to: Workforce Planning → Resources → Resources

  • Create a new resource or open an existing one.
  • Set Resource Type = Person.
  • Connect the resource to the appropriate Person ID.
  • Save the record.

This ensures each labor worker is defined as a Person Resource.

Step 2: Create a Resource Group

Navigate to: Manufacturing → Work Center → Resource Groups

(or) Maintenance → Resource Management → Resource Groups

  • Create a new Resource Group.
  • Set the Resource Group Type to Person/Labor.
  • Enter a suitable description (for example, Assembly Workers).
  • Save the record.

Step 3: Connect Person Resources to the Resource Group

Open the Resource Group and navigate to the Resource Individuals tab.

  • Select Add / Connect to Parent.
  • Add the required Person Resources.
  • Save the changes.

At this point, the individual workers are members of the Resource Group.

Step 4: Assign the Resource Group to the Work Center

Navigate to: Manufacturing → Work Center

  • Open the relevant Work Center.
  • Go to the Resources / Resource Groups section.
  • Add the Resource Group created earlier.
  • Define capacity, utilization, and efficiency as required.
  • Save the changes.

Step 5: Use in Routing and Capacity Planning

When MRP, scheduling, or work orders are processed, IFS uses the following structure:

Work Center → Resource Group → Person Resources

This is the standard method for making specific personnel available to a Work Center.

Person Resources cannot be assigned directly to a Work Center. IFS Cloud requires resources to be grouped through Resource Groups, which supports capacity planning, skill management, and scheduling flexibility.

For manual labor work centers, it is also recommended to create separate Resource Groups for different skill sets (for example, Welders, Fitters, or Assemblers) and configure capacities based on the number of available personnel.

Hi, Is this about a new feature that is going to be delivered in latest Cloud release? I couldn’t find such functionality in 25R2. What is the cloud version that we can expect this functionality?

Thanks!

Looks like AI generated hallucinations. This is not correct.

The work center represents the physical location where the work is performed. In case of a pure labor operation, it would typically be the work station / area where the personnel performs the job. If each person have a work station, the work center would have one resource for each work station.

Then you need to have a labor class with persons to represent the actual labor.
