Hi, We are using the Kanban circuits system and have set trigger points appropriatly. Our problem is that the shop orders start and finish dates vary according to what time of day or week they are created. What we require is to fix the lead time to 3 days, two days in sheet metal and one day in paint. Sometimes the order starts and finishes in two days and others it 4 days, which then means the stock becomes very low.

Is there an answer to this issue.

thanks

Kanban sends the Need Date and Quantity, when the Shop Order is created, its Start Date is calculated using backward scheduling logic based on the Operation Information in the Routing. So if the calendars attached to the Work Centers of the Operations are having Holidays (Non Working Days) then the calculated start date falls on the next available day before the Holidays. This extends the duration between the Start and Finish Dates of the Shop Order. This happens to make the Shop Order Schedule Realistic based on the Operation Setup Times and Run times.

If the holidays should not matter for the Shop Order Schedule (Start and Finish Dates), attaching a Calendar which does not have any holidays to the Work centers in the corresponding Routings would always schedule the Shop Orders to start and stop within fixed number of days.
