CBS, APB: Can I freeze my created schedule from APB?

Hello,

As I understand it, when I create and save a schedule using the Advanced Planning Board (APB), the updated planning dates are stored in the IFS database.

However, it appears that when the planner opens IFS the following (next) day, the schedule that was saved in APB has been overwritten, as if the Infinite Scheduler has run and recalculated the planning dates.

I would like to understand:

  • Is there a way to freeze or firm the schedule created in APB so that it is not overwritten by the Infinite Scheduler?
  • If no changes have been made to the affected shop orders overnight, what could trigger the Infinite Scheduler to reschedule them?
  • Could this be caused by an MRP run, or are there any other background processes that can automatically trigger rescheduling?

Any guidance on how APB schedules are protected from automatic rescheduling would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello,

Generally, the Shop Order Infinite Scheduler does not automatically reschedule all shop orders. In addition, MRP does not trigger rescheduling actions for shop orders that have already been finite scheduled.

You should verify whether a scheduled task has been configured to run the Reschedule Shop Orders by Site process, as this could be causing the rescheduling behavior.

Thanks!

Hella @Lakshan Thiranagama

Thank you so much for the clue.

Do you also have idea what potentially could be causing that when we open back the APB after we store new schedule to the database, in the APB it displays the old schedule (like it would have not been scheduled where system applies all orders according to the infinite scheduling)?

Thank you so much in advance for your further help in this.

Best regards,

Kasia

Hello Kasia,

After saving the Finite scheduled result to IFS database, APB should load that same result after next reloading of the client. You can also test it by database reloading from the first icon given on the top icon pane without reloading APB.

Thanks!
