So I am trying to setup the system to auto calculate a Wanted Delivery Date for Saturday deliveries. I was trying to do it through a Delivery Route but I am not sure if that the right way to do it. I tried to create a new calendar that includes Saturdays as a working day and attach it (External Transport Calendar) to a Saturday delivery service Ship Via code, but I still can’t get the Wanted Delivery Date to auto calculated if I pick a Saturday Delivery Ship Via.

Other than manually changing the date on the customer order, does anyone know of way to setup IFS to auto calculate a Saturday Wanted Delivery Date based on the Ship Via and Delivery Route you indicated.

Hi @eknock007,

I think you are almost on the right path to configure your requirement.

In IFS Cloud, the Wanted Delivery Date is not automatically calculated based solely on the Ship Via’s external transport calendar. While you correctly created a calendar that includes Saturdays and attached it to the Ship Via, this calendar is mainly used for transportation planning and does not control how delivery dates are calculated in customer orders. Instead, the system determines the Wanted Delivery Date using delivery lead times together with the delivery route configuration. Specifically, it considers the planned ship date, adds the defined delivery lead time, and then checks the delivery route calendar to find the next valid delivery day.

To enable Saturday deliveries automatically, I think you need to configure the delivery route rather than relying only on the Ship Via. This involves assigning a delivery calendar that includes Saturdays to the delivery route, ensuring Saturday is marked as an allowed delivery day, and setting an appropriate delivery lead time. If Saturday is not enabled in the delivery route or its calendar, the system will skip it and move to the next valid day, even if the Ship Via allows Saturday. Therefore, the correct approach is to control this behavior through the delivery route setup so that the system recognizes Saturday as a valid delivery day when calculating the Wanted Delivery Date.

For instance,

  • Order Date: Friday (5th April)
  • Delivery Lead Time: 1 day
  • Ship Via: Saturday Delivery

Update Delivery Route Calendar:
Monday–Friday
Saturday (enabled)

Recalculate
Friday + 1 day = Saturday
Saturday is now a valid delivery day

Wanted Delivery Date = Saturday (6th April)

I tried to do what you instructed below and I think I know what you were trying to explain, but I wasn’t able to do that, especially the assigning a calendar to the Delivery Route because their is no direct way to assign a calendar to the Delivery Route. Maybe its just a matter of semantics.

“This involves assigning a delivery calendar that includes Saturdays to the delivery route, ensuring Saturday is marked as an allowed delivery day, and setting an appropriate delivery lead time. If Saturday is not enabled in the delivery route or its calendar, the system will skip it and move to the next valid day, even if the Ship Via allows Saturday.”

So this is what I have done. I’ve created a calendar that includes Saturdays as a working say. We only want to use this as a Customer Calendar to schedule Saturday deliveries. We do not want to alter or change our normal distribution calendar.

As far as the Delivery Route, should I create a new Delivery Route with Saturday only or add Saturday to existing Delivery Route?

Existing:

Saturday Only:

At order entry I would assume that we would have to do the following for Delivery Settings:

Thanks,
