Good Morning everyone,

we use IFS Cloud and thinking about, to optimize our processes with the Transport Task handling.

Is it possible to set on a Location an automatically Transport task for goods, which has to be deliver back on stock?

Idea is, if we deliver Raw Material for the production and they have finished the order, the balance has to be go back in stock. We have separate Location Names for this goods.

Plan is to create a TT from Location 1 to Stock automatically, based on the Handling Units.

Hope someone can help me!

BR

Thorsten

@Thorsten Vagt Yes this is possible if you use KanBan functionality in IFS. That will create the transport task automatically based on the reorder point that you have define.

The way I dunerstand this is that you have a handling unit that is moved into the production area. It could for example be a drum or a big bag. Part of the handling unit is consumed in production and what remains shoud be moved back to the original location using a transport task?

In order to facilitate the forward movement from the raw material location to the work we have a new functionality in 25R2 that you can look into, it is called “move shop order reservations with transport task”. This new capability also includes the option to create the transport task for the entire handling unit, not just the reserved quantity. This is something that is probably useful in your case.

Once the reserved quantity has been consumed you can use the putaway capability to create a transport tak in the opposite direction. Inventory putaway was introduced a long time ago (I think in 2015), and the logic will find the best possible location to return the part to. Probably it will be the same location, but if an even better location is now available this will be selected.

Hi @Thorsten Vagt

Yes, this scenario can be handled in IFS Cloud using a combination of existing warehouse and production logistics functionalities.

If the goal is to automatically generate a Transport Task (TT) when material needs to be returned from production back to stock, there are a couple of approaches depending on your process setup.

One possible approach is to use Kanban functionality in IFS. With Kanban, transport tasks can be generated automatically based on the reorder point or replenishment signals defined in the Kanban setup. This can help automate the movement of material between locations.

From your description, it seems that a Handling Unit (HU) such as a drum or big bag is moved from the raw material location to the production area. During production, only part of the material in the handling unit is consumed, and the remaining quantity should be returned to stock.

For the forward movement (from raw material location to production), IFS Cloud 25R2 introduces a new capability called “Move Shop Order Reservations with Transport Task.” This functionality allows the system to create a transport task automatically for the reserved material. It also includes an option to move the entire handling unit, not only the reserved quantity, which may be useful for your scenario.

After the reserved quantity has been consumed in production, the remaining material can be returned to stock using the Inventory Put Away functionality. When the put-away process is triggered, the system can automatically create a transport task to move the material to the most suitable storage location. The system evaluates available locations and selects the best one according to the put-away logic—often the original location, but potentially another optimal location if available.

This combination of Handling Units, Transport Tasks, Shop Order Reservation movements, and Inventory Put Away can help automate the return of remaining material from production back to stock.
