We would like a way to reverse “Database Saves” that have been committed via the Advanced Planning Board. There appears two ways to save a schedule locally using the APB; by using “File Save…” and “Save Workspace”.

  1. What is the difference between saving a file and saving a workspace gin the APB] locally to my machine?
  2. It appears that the only way to load a wpreviously saved] file/workspace is to set the APB’s Application Run Mode to “Simulation Mode”. However, once this file is loaded in, we are unable to perform a “Database Save” because we are in simulation mode. And when you switch back to “Scheduler Mode” any data loaded in is cleared out. Because of this we are unable to commit any previously saved/loaded in files/workspaces back to IFS via a “Database Save”. Is there a way to save previously stored schedules (either file or workspace) back to the database? If so, how can this be done considering the behavior of the Application Run Mode?

Our main goal is to save the “old” schedule locally before performing any ere]scheduling within the APB. So, if we save the new schedule to IFS and notice issues/concerns/mistakes then we have the old schedule saved locally. But currently we are unable to find a way to save the “old” schedule back to IFS.

Hi ,

File save ( .fsi format), will save all your data. But your workspace, opened window, coloring of objects, what you have loaded to the right hand pane or navigator will not be included in this file. Basically just data will be saved for you to later open and do simulations

Workspace Save ( .fsw format) , will save data and your last workspace with all your arrangements

No you can not save a file to the database.  file can be opened only in simulation mode for you to work and run what if scenarios. You can not save a file to a database. If we are to allow file save , there should be complex validation to make sure the data integrity is maintained. Because during the time the file save, the database objects are in one state and when you save back , may be even they are no longer exist. ( one example. ) Therefore file load is for simulation only ( in Simulation mode )

Hope this helps.
