I was wondering if anyone could guide me this, I wan to print customer order confirmation when an order is released I also want it to be printed to a specific printer

Customer Order Confirmation report will be automatically printed if you set below basic data.
You can assign a particular printer using below window.
If you want to set a report rule then please refer below content in F1 documentation.

With basic data on customer window to print customer order confirmation as Dumeesha stated, you can use following reporting rule setup to print to a specific printer also.
