In Aurena, there is a place to set up the Information Source URL but has anyone got experience in setting this up manually for other Information Sources?

Yes its possible to configure URL for quick information sources as well. Please refer this section in technical documentation for assistant.
After configuring the information source, it is required to click “Refresh → Refresh Information Source” action in BR ribbon in order to make it available for already created reports.
