Over the last three releases, MWM has steadily built out native support for Esri's Utility Network (UN) model — starting with basic visualization, moving into offline support, and now into network tracing. Here's a breakdown of what shipped in each release.
The Mobile app build number (MOB version) doesn't map one-to-one with the MWM release, it rolls forward across releases on its own cadence via Service Updates (SUs). Please see the table below for details on when each MOB version is included for each MWM release
MOB11 — Foundation: viewing Utility Network data (Office & Mobile)
MWM 8.4 introduces foundational Utility Network support for both Office and Mobile: UN layers, AssetGroups, and AssetTypes render on the map with proper symbology and show up correctly in the GIS Layers panel and legend. Users can view AssetGroup/AssetType-specific asset details with friendly attribute names, toggle connectivity, association, and containment relationships between domain and structure assets, and highlight subnetlines tied to a selected asset. UN feature classes are also fully searchable and filterable through the existing Search/Filter GIS Assets tool, orders can be created directly from selected or searched UN assets, and Mobile additionally supports displaying UN data from local, non-synced geodatabases.
MOB12 — Offline geodatabases
MWM 8.5 extends the same Utility Network visualization capabilities to offline data: admins can mark a synced geodatabase as containing UN data on Mobile, after which offline users get the same experience as online, including UN layers on the map, asset details, asset tool interactions such as order creation and highlighting, search, and a matching layer legend. Connectivity, association, containment, and subnetline highlighting also work directly against the offline geodatabase.
MOB13 — Network tracing
MWM 8.6 adds network tracing: a native Esri UN tracing control was implemented for Mobile, and GIS Admins can enable utility network tracing on a configured online or offline feature service. Utilizing the Esri UN tracing control users can execute name trace functions associated to the UN where results are illustrated within the Esri control and center on the individual results.
