PPC often has unrecoverable errors without the detail required to troubleshoot further.
Often it is not possible to save when this occurs therefore PPC must be closed completely and reopened.
Has anyone in the community using PPC experienced this and if so kindly provide feedback.

Hi dionsant.
We have experienced this also in v8.2 and v8.2. We have never been able to narrow down the circumstances or any trigger for the behaviour.
I advise our Team to save the Plan regularly especially if they are intending to make many changes as once the unrecoverable error occurs anything not saved is lost.

I empathize with your situation. PP&C has been volatile, and we took the safer approach when unexpected errors occur of forcing you to relaunch PP&C. The alternative was risk that PP&C would save bad data that would make the plan or template unrecoverable.
PP&C uses an older technology that the industry is no longer supporting. R&D has assigned a team to rearchitect PP&C. They met with Qantas on April 7th to get the conversation started on designing the replacement, and we intend to constantly check in, provide demos, and get feedback throughout the process.
Is there any chance that merging of Multiple Work Packages into the one Gantt can be incorporated into the new version. I know we can assign multiple Work Packages to the same Plan. But the current version of PP&C requires the User to switch between Work Packages to see each Gantt. Having the ability to view Multiple Work Packages in the same Gantt is particularly useful when overlaps or clashes between Work Packages occur.
It is doable using Type Scripting with the .xml exports. However, this is only useful for monitoring and the Gantt editing cannot be published back to the PP&C Tables in the DB.
An introductory session with BAE also occurred on April 7th. Hopefully you can be involved in this moving forward. Please reach out internally to see who is taking this on.

Thanks Robert, I was apart of the discussions on the 7th and look forward to the replacement.
