Hello All MTX users and designer.

How do you proceed when a Technician need to order a Part in MTX which is unknown from the data base?

Do you use a Create Part and add Part Requirement (create a MPN in Build in a PART GROUP Batch or Ser only) ?

Other solution ?

What is the IFS advisory in that process?

Thanks

@Robert Bellemare
Do you have a process description MTX to order or request a Part That do not exist in MTX for a Mecanic?

Hi Olivier,

You have already identified the available option in your original description: Create Part and Assign Part To Task.

Giving this permission to the mechanics

A targeted solution is present in Maintenix for the mechanic to create the part using a specialized permission. If the mechanic is holding a piece of equipment in their hand that has been chosen for the replacement task, and the part number does not appear in Maintenix, we have the permission ACTION_CREATE_PART_FOR_TASK.

Mechanics creating the part

This permission gives your users a new button on the Add Part Requirement pages ‘Create And Assign Part to Task’. The mechanic will be shown a simplified UI to create a new part which asks for the part number, part name, and manufacturer. This is only allowed for BATCH and SER parts, as the rules around config control are less strict.

Installation restrictions

The config parms TOBE_INST_NOTAPPROVED and TOBE_INST_NOTAPPROVED_FOR_GROUP will control whether the mechanic is allowed to proceed with or without prior verification by engineers. Your specific settings have these both as WARNING, and therefore engineering review will be called upon after-the-fact.

Review by engineers and/or configuration controller

At this time the part is still in BUILD status, and not approved in its COMHW part group. An alert will be sent to subscribers of the alert ‘Part No created’, and the engineers can do the necessary actions to approve the part.

Controlled by business process outside of Maintenix

Processes can be created outside of Maintenix for similar results. I was recently at a customer site where Config Control were registered in a phone group used for mechanics to request the same actions be performed by a designated responsible party.
