When I go to Build Place, I get the following error “ Mode of Implementation is not set in Build Place Configuration”.  I am not able to find a method to set this.

Hi Rodney - I’d be glad to help.

First, check out Configuring the Mode of Implementation for technical details around this process.  Essentially, there are 3 options when selecting the mode of implementation:

  • New implementation - Refers to a fresh IFS Installation (most common)

  • Re-implementation of the current solution - Refers to moving a solution without data from any AppX to IFS Cloud, by the fresh installation and moving data with migration method (Basic/Master/Static Data)

  • Upgrading of the current solution - Upgrading of the current solution refers to moving the solution and data from any AppX to IFS Cloud, using the upgrade process

Next, a user with technician access must be the one to logon, and set the mode of implementation.
You can assign other users with technician access by following the steps here.

Finally, the newly appointed technician user can set the mode of implementation following the steps provided here.

I will reach out via email to follow up.

Hope this helps in the meantime.

It was necessary to grant myself the Technician role instead of Admin.  This solved the issue.

Thanks @gbennett

Excellent!  Glad to hear it.  Reach out if you have any further questions.

I’m having the same problem, but in my case I have the Technician role but it’s giving below error for me.

Thanks & Regards,
Asanka.

I face same problem as Asanka even though I have the Technician Role.

Anyone know how to solve?

Hi @curhanspb ,

I tried 10-50 times by refreshing browser 🙂. At one point it was succesful without any error.

BR,
Asanka.

Thanks Asanka,

I switched to Edge and here it succeeded

I tried using Google Chrome but encountered the same error as previously reported. I then switched to Edge, but the issue persisted, even in incognito mode. This isn’t the first time, and it’s quite frustrating, as many others are experiencing the same issue without a clear explanation as to why. I also have the Technician role. Has anyone contacted IFS Support regarding this?

@AmilaF @curhanspb @asanka1055

Please note that, if you have multiple roles (BP Admin & Technician) you might experience this kind of behavior. Easy fix would be remove your all other roles & keep only Technician. Then use incognito mode in Chrome. It should ideally fix the issue.

https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/ale/020_lifecycle/020_getting_started/010_rmode_of_implementation/#set_mode_of_implementation

Setting up Mode of implementation can be performed by Technicians Only. When you have multiple roles it shows like below in the ALE portal with active role.
