I’m starting a new IT role at my company where I will be working primarily with users and permissions in IFS. I shadowed a colleague who performs this work the other day. He was tasked with setting up a new functional group for foremen.
He had to do the following:
Add a new user and functional role.
Add projections to the role.
Edit the projections (i.e. Grant All Full to Grant All Read Only).
Manage the projection grants for better fine grained control.
Add or change projection action grants.
Add or edit entity grants for the functional user.
Assign the functional role to the user role.
Create a new user in order to test the new roles (this was done in the test environment. When working they will be added to new and existing users in the production environment).
Add an existing lobby for the new user role.
Test functionality using the test user that he created for the new user role.
I read the pinned post in this forum thread (Recommended Academy Courses for New Users). Looking at that list, I know I should start with IFS Cloud Essentials. However, from there, I’m not sure where to go. My thinking is:
Lobby Configurations
Administration and Configuration - IFS Cloud
Custom Object Configuration
I will not be doing anything with work flows.
Can someone evaluate my list above and let me know if those look like the appropriate courses or if there are any other courses I may need to take in order to assist my colleague in my new role? Thank you in advance for any recommendations and assistance.
My previous experience with IFS was limited to back end DBA support. I have not even logged into IFS Cloud at this point as I’m still waiting on approvals and permission to access our DEV, TEST and UAT environments.
I have also read the following manuals from the IFS Technical Documentation for IFS Cloud Architecture Overview, Solution Manager User Guide and Tailoring Guide.
