Outside Operations - Ship WIP with shipments

Scenario:

Consider an open Shop Order with one or more outside operation lines. One item on the shop order has to be sent to an external supplier for repair before being returned to us to complete the remaining work on the Shop Order. A purchase order is created for the outside operation item and the Ship WIP to Supplier is executed. The status of the operation line is now ‘In Process’ and the item is ready to be physically sent to the supplier (an external third party company).

What is the next recommended step, or what functionality exists in IFS Cloud to get the freight portion of this process ready? For example, can a Shipment be generated from the Shop Order or Purchase Order?  Or how do I get the part from the Outside Operation added to an existing shipment?

We are also very interested in knowing the standard support for this process. Yes, IFS DO have “ The small truck icon and Ship WIP command that the operator can press. But what would notify logistic people to manage this “value added” stock that should be on the road and going to a third party and should be bring back? How would IFS support those logisic steps that is happening in real world. I see a big gap here? can someone from IFS help us out?

Hi @Vulcan,

As on today, there is no out-of-the-box functionality to deliver Shop Order WIP using a shipment, though, there is a plan for this feature in 26R2.

Please have a look on the discussion below.
