When creating an employee in IFS Cloud the field Assignment becomes mandatory. This is not really applicable to subcontractors. Any advice?

There is actually no use of an HCM employee if you don’t have an organization assignment.
If you don’t have the assignment you won’t be able to see the employee at all(unless you are HR application manager and that should be very restricted) and you wont be able to use any HCM functionality, like Time reporting for example.
What’s the reason you want to enter contractors as HCM employees if they will not be used in any HCM functionality?
Depending a bit on what kind of contractors we talk about we handle this differently:
- Sometimes the contractor / consultant is a resource as any other employee and then we assign them to the same department as the employees so the responsible manager can se their time and so on.
- If it is enough we have a default org unit that we just call “contractors”
