when I try to assign a free fields via ‘Employee File’ function to a future employee (will start employment next month) , I have the below error .
Any idea or suggestions will be much appreciated.

I am not quite sure for the IFS version this issue is reported in.
But there is a readily available fixes as described below.
Bug id 140130 - When using the Former Employee Reemployment option on Employment Assistant we are getting an error message when attempting to Finish "Property value assignment cannot be saved since it overlaps with existing assignment valid in the future". Also when you complete the steps and then return to the first screen (to select the configuration template etc.) then extra lines are added to the address type and Properties steps. An extra line is added for every time you return.
