Serial Object Rename

Hi,

 

We are using serial objects which have maintenance aware and having lots of difficulty trying to find a way to change them after they have been receipted.

 

I have tried the rename function but due to “maintenance aware” i cannot get this to process and receive an error 

 

Is there a way to remove the maintenance aware temporarily or an alternative way to chnage the serial no.

 

This is mostly occurring upon human error and the vast quantities of data entered.

@Rob Tree After the inventory part has been made maintenance aware, it will not be possible to change the Serial No. One workaround you could do is, query for the Serial Object and delete it. You will get an information message saying that the Part Serial will not be removed. After that, it will be possible to change the serial number. Then, the final step is to once again make the part maintenance aware. This work around requires a few steps but it doesn’t take long.

But it is not possible to delete the Serial Object, if any transactions has been made. E.g. If the Object has been received in to inventory.
