We are on Apps9 and are looking for a creative solution.  To outline…

A pdf drawing for a part is attached to Inventory Part using Doc Man.  Through Object Connection Transformation we ‘inherit’ this document to Shop Orders.

Our Shop Orders have a detailed “job sheet” (Shop Order specific) which is attached to the individual SO Op Work Guideline directly.

When printing “Work Instructions” for the individual Shop Order, we select the “Print Attached Documents” option

However, this does NOT print the pdf drawing document inherited from the Inventory Part; only the “job sheet”.

Any ideas/suggestions/starting points would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @PRODQ ,

The documents are not printing because they are attached to the InventoryPart  LU and not to ShopOrd LU. The solution is to somehow get the attached documents in InventoryPart  to get attached to ShopOrd as well.

  1. You can try writing a Object Connection Transformation rule with source LU as ShopOrd  and Target LU as InventoryPart and editable field set to source. This will force all the documents attaching to InventoryPart  to be actually saved in ShopOrd. But the transformation method for this is not straight forward and you will have to write a custom database method to make this rule work. There can be risks associated with this.
  2. Whenever a document is attached to InventoryPart, write a custom event or customization to attach the same document to ShopOrd as well
  3. Customize “Print Attached Documents” option so that it will look for documents in InventoryPart as well.

There are few possible solutions I could think of right now off the top of my head. There can be other easier methods to do this as well :relaxed:

Thank you and good luck :grinning:

Hello, to print attached document with So, you have to attach them to routing_operation_work_guide, then you can print them.

go to routing operation, for example on first operation RBM, klick work_oper_work_guide, then in new window create work_guide, and for line of work guide attach the document you need to print with SO.

have a nice day

Thank you!

Hi @Mucskad - thanks for engaging but that wasn’t really the question.  We do know documents need to be connected to Work Guidelines to be printed but were looking for a creative solution on how to print documents that are inherited from other LUs (ie Inventory Part).

Thanks, @amila - we’ll certainly consider your custom event suggestion.

hello, i tried it . and it’S not working :(

@PRODQ

Good day to you.

We have a similar issue in that when we print the Shop Order we would like the attached drawings to be printed too.  Again, in our case the drawings are attached to the Inventory Part.

Just wondering.

John

Hi @amila

#Could you expand on your No 3 suggestion, please?

Customize “Print Attached Documents” option so that it will look for documents in InventoryPart as well.

Thanks
