IFS Cloud Import Permission Set

Hi,

I have exported a permission set from an IFS Cloud Instance. And when trying to import it to another IFS Cloud instance, I select ‘Finish’, then it spins, and then bring back the same screen. How do I proceed from here?

Hi @khtdinesha,

This is a known issue which i believe is fixed in 22R1. Issue occurs when the permission set is quite big and takes time to import. smaller ones go through without any issues.

You can work around by manually splitting the permission set to smaller pieces. make sure you get the header tags correctly in the smaller ones correct.

Oh OK. This customer is in 22R1. Should I be logging a case to determine if a patch is missing in that case?

We have the same issue in 22.1.3 now. Did you get it fixed with a server patch?

This is not fixed up to 22R1 SU7. no idea its done after or in the plan..

This is what I would consider to be embarrassing to the IFS Cloud version I would say.

If the import function can’t operate with a export function for permission sets why don’t ‘IFS Cloud produce several smaller files so that the import process works?

Permission Set Import Issues with Larger XML Batches (IFS Cloud 24.1)

Today I’m experiencing some unexpected behavior when importing permission sets into IFS Cloud.

Initially, I attempted to import approximately 140 permission sets in a single batch and ran into the issue described in the original post (import process spins with no indication of success or background processing).

Through trial and error, I identified what appears to be a size-related threshold:

  • When importing XML files with a total combined size under 2 MB, the import process completes successfully.
  • When exceeding that threshold, the issue begins to occur.

As a workaround, I’ve been importing in smaller batches:

  • Typically between 1–8 files at a time
  • My largest individual XML file is 1,936 KB
  • By sorting files by size in Windows Explorer and batching strategically, I was able to successfully import a max of 46 permission sets in one batch

I also recall reading that when the import exceeds 2 MB, it is processed as a background job. However, during my testing, I have not observed any indication that a background job is being triggered or executed.

Environment:

  • IFS Cloud Web version: 24.1.23.20260402030818.0

Question: Is anyone else encountering similar behavior with permission set imports?
