Hi all,

We are currently reviewing antivirus impact in our IFS 10 environment (including middleware and migration instance), where we are observing significant file system activity and increased system load.

The environment is protected by Trellix AV with real-time scanning enabled, and currently no application-specific exclusions are defined for IFS.

We see that:

  • Migration instance (IFS 10 MIG) generates high volume of file operations
  • Middleware and batch/integration jobs trigger continuous real-time scanning
  • This results in increased CPU and I/O usage

IFS Support has advised that this topic should be addressed via the community, so I’d like to ask for practical input from other customers.

👉 Questions:

  • What antivirus exclusions are you using for IFS 10 environments?
  • Which directories are typically excluded (DB, middleware, temp, logs, integration paths)?
  • Are there any specific processes that should be excluded from real-time scanning?
  • Have you seen similar behaviour in migration environments?
  • Any performance improvements after applying exclusions?

We are trying to find a balance between system performance and security, so any real-life examples or proven setups would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
