Hi All

We are only a couple of weeks away from going live with Apps10, upgrading from Apps9.

On Apps 9 we ran a two node clustered Middleware setup, both nodes running 2 Middleware Server Services (4 in total). This was for our userbase of 400 users (Around 130 Concurrent Users). The system has run well, albeit potentially over complicated (especially when patching etc).

We have decided to ditch the clustered nodes in favour of one sole MW Server.

My question is, do you think running with One node and only one ‘MainServer’ Managed Server is acceptable for our user base? in comparison to what you have seen….

Any thoughts, or comparisons to what you are running with for Apps10 would be appreciated.

Yes, thanks Ruchira. We have had a test IFS10 instance with 2 Managed Servers on one host. Nice and easy on 10 to create them. I just want to know if that is something of benefit?

We currently run IFS App 10 Update 8 with 200 users and between 70 and 100 concurrent users between 7am and 7pm.  Between 7pm and 7am concurrent users drop to between 20 and 30 users.  The middleware server is a Windows 2019 virtual machine with 64Gb of memory.  All memory except 8Gb is allocated to the Middleware server application.  We use VMware to host the virtual machines and SSD SAN storage with 10Gb network connectivity between all servers and SANs.

 

We currently use the IFS IEE user interface for most of our users with a small trial of IFS Aurena users.  Our user experience is positive with very little performance issues.  We will begin our upgrade implementation soon going to the IFS Cloud edition on-premise.  We will be considering a clustered solution during the implementation mainly due to IFS user interface being browser base only.  We are concerned about the load on a single server.
