ISSUE/QUESTION: How to track breaking changes that are delivered in different update versions in IFS Cloud
ENVIRONMENT: IFS Applications 10 & IFS Cloud
AUDIENCE: All
RESOLUTION/ANSWER:
In IFS Cloud & IFS Application 10, we intend to provide different levels of compatibility among various update types for both Premium & Standard APIs.
Especially for Premium APIs, we intend to provide comprehensive documentation on the appropriate use of the API, strive to maintain compatibility across releases and to provide early warning as well as guidance to customers should changes, such as moving to a new version of an API.
For both API classes our policy is to take every effort not make any breaking changes to APIs in service updates.
More detailed information on this is available at API Usage Policy.
However, in the event of breaking the combability of API end points, we clearly publish the list of such breaking changes.
- Standard APIs - list of breaking changes at both feature & service update levels
- Premium APIs - list of breaking changes at feature update level only (highly unlikely to break at feature update level)
The list of API breaking changes for latest feature / service updates are published at Developer Portal. Customers may apply required changes in their own extend on outside scenarios accordingly in advance, in order to have a greater satisfaction with our product.
