Does anyone know if a CLU can support document attachment i.e. applying object connection?

You can have object connections to the attributes in the CLU.

Yes, just add the object connection as @Hans Andersen said, by specifying your CLU and restart the client. Then you can add attachments as same as a normal window/LU.
