can we configure AD authentication for integration layer?

I have a problem with AD authentication. I have read the instructions and everything seems okay but not working.

IFSv10 gets users from AD. User permissions checked. Direct login to the database works (after changing DirectoryID).
MWS configured correctly. (I hope)

Where can I find logs with reasons for a failed login? 

How to start troubleshooting?

Could you please refer to KBA : Why is the AD Authentication not working even though the configurations are ok ? and see if it helps.

Also see if KBA: Is it possible to do mixed authentication with some users going through ADFS and some users going through DB authentication ? is useful

in Identity Provider in MWS I have a choice of "IFS Database, AAD and ADFS".

What should I choose with to get simple login and password usage from traditional AD without SSO. Is it possible without AAD / ADFS?
