I have a ticket open about this but according to support I need more support from the community e.g. other customers reporting the same behavior and acknowledging that this is not what is intended.

Essentially what’s happened is I have identified a bug in the calendar. I am using 4 different day types in this specific calendar and the details of said day types are linked in the document attached.

The week starts on a Sunday, so we have SUNUK that runs from 11 PM to Midnight. (1 hr)

Sunday is followed by MON-THUR which runs from Midnight to Midnight (this includes 3, 1 hour breaks for each shift outlined in the doc attached). This day type runs from Monday through Thursday.

Lastly, the week ends on a Friday, FRIUK runs from midnight to 11 PM and has 3, 1 hour breaks.

Now what’s happening is that when the calendar is generated for the work center, Thursday is stealing Friday’s time slot of midnight to 3AM so the last period in Thursday runs from 8 PM to 3AM the following day…

This doesn’t make sense as you can see based on my screenshots because midnight to 3 AM has already been accounted for. IFS Support has been able to replicate this issue but I’ve been told this:

“We have identified a potential solution. However, since this functionality is used throughout the application and there is no comprehensive impact analysis across other customer scenarios, we are unable to recommend it as a Core Solution at this stage. Conducting a thorough impact assessment would require additional time and resources beyond the current support scope.

We believe this issue should be explored further as part of the broader development efforts planned for this area in a future release. To help prioritize this enhancement, they suggest submitting a Community Idea, which will allow the product team to evaluate its relevance and consider it for inclusion in future planning.

We have already raised an idea at the Community link below:

This only happens as well when the day types are different. Attached is all of my proof of this happening and a broader explanation of how the day types are actually built but below is the biggest glaring issue that this is a bug. It makes no sense that midnight to 3 AM can happen twice in a given day.

If you would be so kind, if you stumble across this or the idea linked above, please give it an upvote… This behavior makes no sense and I’m a bit annoyed to be honest that I have to get more people the recognize this bug in order for support to fix it.

For the record, the work around is to make it so that the following day starts at 12:01 so the start time of the last day doesn’t overlap the previous day. If the day types are the same in all days, this doesn’t happen, only when the day types are different. Friday ends up starting at 4 AM because of this which is wrong. This affects so many things in IFS and I’m surprised that no one else has caught it. It’s glaringly obvious when you run the manufacturing visualizer.

@Anna I agree this is a bug that should be remedied. In the interim, to get what you want on Thursday/Friday, use a different Period name (e.g., WORK2) for the 12-3AM timeslot on Friday.

With your setup of Day Types and Periods and Thursday taking 180 minutes from Friday, I find it strange that Sunday did not do the same to Monday.
