Barcode font (3 of 9) does not print in IFS Cloud

I cannot get print some of the Quick Reports which contained barcodes in IFS Cloud (22.2.10) environment. It is displaying like *A332902507* instead of barcode (below).

I have already installed 3 of 9 fonts for all the users in crystal web service installed environment.

Hi @Asanka Dissanayake,

The customer needs to make sure of the following:

  1.  The barcode font you've named is actually one of those supported by IFS Cloud.
  2.  The barcode font has been configured as needed in the Font Substitution screen.

Also, RMB click on the font file and choose Install for all users, which installed the font in C:\Windows\Fonts folder properly.

@Asanka Dissanayake  were you able to get this working? We’re running into the same issue. We’ve installed our 3of9.ttf against the system running the CWS to no avail. 3of9 formats properly when invoking through Crystal Reports.

We have the same issue with barcodes. What shoud we add at the Font Substitution screen? How should the configuration done?

IFS Knowledge Base articles KB0046676 and KB0058077 deal with the topic of additional preparation required in order to use barcoding or other special fonts in connection with Crystal Web Service (CWS).  KB0081455 mentions another issue encountered by some IFS Cloud users in releases 23R1 through 25R1.  It also lists the service updates for each release in that interval which resolved those issues.  

Be sure to review these KB articles named above and make sure all needed steps have been followed - then retest the reports with special font content.

Some additional thoughts on the use of CWS with IFS Cloud which should prove useful in future planning:

  • support for CWS will eventually be dropped, possibly sooner rather than than later
  • CWS support was already deprecated once (for 25R2, I believe) but that decision was postponed and support has been temporarily restored
  • CWS could very well be deprecated once more before long

IFS customers who rely on CWS for custom reporting needs should keep the above points in mind in order not to be caught unprepared for the eventual loss of support for that reporting platform.  Other reporting tools appear to be favored by IFS decision makers.  Monitor future announcements from IFS Product Development for the latest updates on this topic.
