Hi Experts,

I have a question relating to Lobbies and Permissions.

When we initially connects a lobby to a permission set, it automatically adds the relevant elements in it. However, if we add new elements to the lobby after granting the permissions, the new ones won’t be added the permission set automatically. Therefore, users would get errors if they try to access them.

To fix this we have 2 options

  1. Add the new elements to the permissions set manually
  2. Remove the lobby from the permission set and add again.

Both the options seem to be time consuming. Is there a better way of doing this?

Thank You,

Shehan Almeida.

Is removing then regranting the lobby to the permission set(s) really a big time consumer?  Certainly it’s a step to be done but it’s not a major undertaking.

Interestingly, when we’ve exported/imported lobbies from Dev to Prod after adding new elements, I don’t think we ever applied any extra grants to those elements, which would seem to mean that they get auto-granted on import when it replaces an existing Lobby.  Perhaps this is an approach you could use as it would avoid having to manually grant the new elements or remove/regrant the lobby, but it does mean you’d be exporting then re-importing instead.

Hi @NickPorter ,

Thank you for the reply.

The issue with this customer is there are more than one permission sets that grants access to lobbies. So identifying the relevant permission sets is the second issue. Is there a easy way to find that?

I will check the import and export option as well.

Best Regards,

You can easily see which permission sets have a lobby granted to them by looking for the Lobby presentation object and viewing the grantees for it.  In Apps 9 and 10 you can do this by right-clicking on the lobby presentation object then select “View Grantees”.

Just bear in mind that this will only show permission sets that have the presentation object granted DIRECTLY to them, so if you grant it to Perm Set A, then structure Perm Set under Perm Set B, only Perm Set A will show in the Grantees list.
