Is anyone using a 128 barcode font with Crystal Reports for IFS Cloud?

We installed a demo download IDAutomation font and it works fine from a PC with the Crystal Report designer but doesn’t appear to work in the PDFs produced from IFS when installed on the Crystal Report server.  We found a reference to the need for a fully licensed version on the IDAutomation support pages, but we also found a reference on the SAP support pages which said that “Custom Licensed Fonts of this type or any licensed font are not Embedded into the PDF doc due to licensing issues.This is by design.”

We know the longer term advice is to move away from Crystal Reports but in the short term we’d like to confirm whether a licensed font will work.
