Sales Quotation Won/Lost Reason after closure

Has anyone discovered how to update the Won/Lost reasons on a Sales Quotation after it is closed?  The sales teams do not always know the reason at the time but want to track this data.  
What is the logical explanation from IFS why this is locked down?
