Is it possible to add committed hours and actual usage hours in IFS without the Time Registration module?

Add as many details as

I would like to add hours to an activity for monitoring purposes, but I cannot use the Time Registration module. When I add hours directly to the activity, the hours do not appear in the Activity Monitoring section.

Could you help me understand the correct process for recording hours on an activity, monitoring the actual hours used, and evaluating the associated costs without using the Time Registration module?

I would also like to know whether additional configuration is required to make the entered hours visible in Activity Monitoring.

possible, by providing details you’ll make it easier for others to reply

Hi @djessylael,

From what I have seen, Activity Monitoring does not work like a simple manual hours field on the activity.

The monitoring values are driven by the source object/transaction behind the activity. Planned hours can come from activity resources or other planning objects, but committed, used and actual hours normally come from connected objects such as work orders, purchase orders, shop orders, project time reporting, project cost reporting, voucher rows or GL voucher rows.

So if you enter hours directly on the activity, those hours may support planning/budget visibility, but they will not necessarily appear as committed or actual usage in Activity Monitoring.

For project labor hours, the standard route is Project Time Reporting / Time Management. Even if you do not want to use IFS for payroll or attendance, there is usually still a minimum time setup needed so project hours can create project transactions. The attendance validation can be kept separate depending on setup, but the project time transaction still needs to exist if you want the monitoring values to update properly.

If Time Registration is completely out of scope, the other practical option is to feed the activity through another connected object or accounting transaction that carries the Project ID and Activity Sequence. Otherwise Activity Monitoring will not have a real transaction source for committed/used/actual hours.

hope this helps.

Cheers!
