Object Depreciation Calculation

Hello IFS Community,

I have an issue in an Apps10 environment where there has been a change to object depreciation calculations for 4 weeks/one month but I am unsure why this has happened.

The change in calculation has happened to all objects in the company for the same 4 week period. Depreciation calculations were consistent for many years before this has happened and the following weeks/month have reverted back to the original steady calculation. So the issue is isolated to a fixed point in time.

Is there a setting anywhere I haven’t been able to locate that could apply a change like this? We require the calculation to be consistent as with previous weeks/months, so will need to rollback the depreciation posting and re-do, but we need to identify the culprit to be able to correct all the object valuations YTD.

Example: Object A

Depreciation Aug Week 1 = £0.52

Depreciation Aug Week 2 = £0.52

Depreciation Aug Week 3 = £0.52

Depreciation Aug Week 4 = £0.52

Depreciation Sept Week 1 = £0.07

Depreciation Sept Week 2 = £0.07

Depreciation Sept Week 3 = £0.07

Depreciation Sept Week 4 = £0.07

Depreciation Oct Week 1 = £0.52

Depreciation Oct Week 2 = £0.52

Depreciation Oct Week 3 = £0.52

Depreciation Oct Week 4 = £0.52

Appreciate any assistance you can give!

Hello Emma,

This is possible when you have Depreciation Method with type Customized:

and it should be defined in periods , example like this:

but someone by mistake changed that to for example:

You should check depreciation method connected to those objects.

Best Regards,

Pawel

Thank you for your response Pawel,

This was my thought aswell but the Method Type = RemValue/RemDays

These are the settings on the Depn Method.

Many thanks,

Emma

Hello,
I do not have enough information to tell you what happened. Can you check depreciation calculation applied? You can do it by selecting option “Depreciation proposal history” in Books tab of Object window.
You will see there depreciation history, with base value and factor applied each time. Perhaps there you will see something justifying this strange calculation results.

Hi Adam, we can see that the calculation has changed but not the reason why.

All settings are the same as other proposals.

It’s definitely a strange one!

Thanks for getting back to me. I will keep at it.
