A. What is your idea?

1) Classification

New concept or idea

2) Brief description

Background:

In IFS Cloud Tracks, revenues and costs that are excluded from capitalization (by excluding the relevant account from Periodical Capitalization) are incorrectly included in revenue recognition calculations for POC Method: Manual.

Note that this issue is not there in POC Method: Actual. This is since “Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC” has been auto disabled (set as “No”) from Project Group level for POC Method: Actual. But this option has been auto enabled (set as “Yes”) for POC Method: Manual.

This was reported through Case: CS0532547.

Issue:

  • It is not possible to change the value in “Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC” to ‘No’ for POC Method: Manual.
  • Therefore this causes a situation where the excluded revenues and costs are always included in the revenue recognition calculations which is not right for the customers which are used to use Manual POC Method without revenues and costs excluded from capitalization.
  • There’s no rationale for the current IFS Cloud solution where the excluded revenues and costs are always included in the revenue recognition calculations.

Requirement → How the solution can be provided;

Approach 1;

  • Bring back the existing flexibility to Project Accounting at least for the POC Method Manual.
  • When Project Group / Project has POC Method = Manual, Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC is allowed to have the value ‘Yes’ and ‘No’
  • Solution for Excluded amounts could follow the POC Method ‘Actual Cost’ solution in Project Groups and Project pages and Revenue recognition calculations.
  • This could be done so that the added flexibility is allowed only in Project Group level. Projects connected to Project Group inherit the setup without the possibility to the change parameter value. And this should be generic - not only for the POC Method Manual.

Approach 2;

  • Or a new parameter is added to control the possibility to change the parameter value:

    - To the Revenue Recognition Information –page

    - Parameter name: Auto Include Non-Capitalized Rev / Cost

    - Default value: Yes --> Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC can’t be edited in Project Groups and Projects (Generic rule)

    - Value No allowed to change Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC values in a company

Hi,

It looks fine.

I’d like to include this to the Background:

The incorrect values are caused by the parameter “Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC” being set as mandatory to “Yes” with the POC Method Manual.

When the POC Method is Manual the parameter “Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC" is always "Yes". It is not possible to change the value.
The reference POC Method Actual Cost is more flexible. User can change the value of “Include Cost Excluded from Capitalization for POC" between "Yes" and "No"
