We disposed an object today and selected the wrong reason.  Writeoff instead of Theft was selected.  Is there any way to update this or undo the disposal so we can do it again with a more appropriate reason.

Hi,

You should be able to use the roll back transaction option.

Much of fixed assets is very forgiving in terms of needing to undo a transaction.

Check the following screen and attempt the rollback. Then you can update GL refresh the object screen and do the disposal again.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Yes, that did the trick but I have another question.  Is there a different process to ‘dispose’ of an asset or is Dispose and Scrap essentially the same thing, just different words.

Thanks

Hi,

Disposal in my thinking is a generic term.   I guess a flavor of disposal could be a sale.

From an IFS way of working,  a scraping is what would traditionally be seen as a disposal, but in some cases I have seen a sale considered as a disposal.

In any case, to reverse what happened, search for the object and then see what was done as a disposal.

Best regards,

Thomas
