There is no risk at all. Just keep in mind that in case of internal ledger, Used in IL checkbox must be additionally selected for an activated code if code part value is desired in internal ledgers.

And one more remark - you should be careful setting up newly activated code part as mandatory on account - historical transactions will have this value empty, which will raise errors in case of corrections.
