Microsoft Report Viewer is not installed in the FSM. What is happening here, when I m clicking the report in FSM smart client, a new chrome window is opening and it is redirecting to SSRS report server and the report is displaying in report viewer of SSRS.
But the same thing is not happening with FSM web client.

Hi @saras360,
The server side reports were deprecated to be replaced solely with the client side reports that use the FSM report viewer.
For this reason it would not be expected that the web client would handle these reports as it is a new client and instead client side reports should be made to replace the existing server side ones.
Kind regards,
Lee Pinchbeck
HI @Lee Pinchbeck ,
What is the solution for this ? Below is the error. All my SSRS reports are in SSRS report server.
Regards,
Saras
Hi @saras360,
As SSRS is deprecated the solution would be to recreate the SSRS reports as client reports instead. The client reports will then work in both the Smart and Web clients.
Kind regards,
Lee Pinchbeck
Hi @Lee Pinchbeck
As you know there is no report designer in FSM tool. The only way to build report is through SSRS tool and Crystal reporting tool.
All the client reports are inbuilt reports. As FSM tool supports SSRS reporting, do you think its a bug?
FSM web client doesn’t support SSRS reporting ? Only FSM thick client supports SSRS reporting ?
Can you please confirm ?
Regards,
Saras
Hi @saras360,
You would need to create a client report using Microsoft Visual Studio and then use the Reports Admin menu option in FSM to import the report file as a client report.
Whilst you can still run existing SSRS reports from the Smart Client they are no longer supported in Smart and Web client. in practice this means:
No new SSRS report will be developed by IFS. All new reports will be Client reports only
Bugs in existing SSRS reports will not be corrected
SSRS reports in managed cloud are not supported
There is no plan to break the SSRS reports but they are not part of the testing process for new releases and may break unintentionally due to other progresses in the releases
As Web client came after the deprecation of SSRS they were never made usable in that client.
Kind regards,
Lee Pinchbeck
Hi @Lee Pinchbeck
Can you please provide me a document how to develop client reports in FSM ?
As you know FSM web web client doesn’t support SSRS reporting.
Regards,
Saras
Hi @saras360,
New client reports would need to be created using Microsoft Visual Studio. As this is not an IFS application we do not have any documentation for guidance on how to use this software and that would need to be sourced from Microsoft. The resulting file is then imported into FSM.
If the new report is similar to an existing report it may be best to export the existing report and then amend it with Microsoft Visual Studio. Save the changed files and then import as the new report.
