Hello,

For our customer, we would like to connect multiple service organisations (around 15-20) to a dataset. Apart from the normal sizing recommendations, can this have an impact on PSO performance?

Thank you very much,

Iulia

Are you also using Object Groups to limit visibility or is it just to combine the different jobs and resources into one big dataset?

Hello @Alexander Heinze, we will probably use Object groups as well.

@Iulia Petrin  what’s the anticipated size of the dataset (resources and activities)?

@Sajith Anushan any suggestions when it comes to max number of object groups?

Hello @Alexander Heinze, a very large size. Around 440 resources and 5-8 activities per day for each resource, but we haven't confirmed these numbers yet. We are aware that he have to increase the size and number of servers needed. Right now, we are still thinking about the possible structure, if this is needed explicitly for one dataset or if we could use more.

Where do you see the benefit of a single dataset?

They have many resources which they share across the different departments (regions). Unfortunately, the rellocation offered by IFS is not enough for them, since it happens very often that a resource works for one job in a region and than goes in another region for other jobs, all in the same day. Besides that, they would like to have these departments to be created as separate sites for financial reasons for example. Therefore the idea of creating one (maybe two or three datasets - depends on the decisions) with several service organisations.

Understood, however why would you use Object Groups? Wouldn’t that limit visibility too much? If the resources work in different regions even per day, shouldn’t they be visible to all dispatchers? And if you don’t use relocations, does the job execution use the correct site?

@Alexander Heinze, we are still not sure about all the details, since we are still in the discovery phase. I thought about giving access to one ore more object groups, depending on the regions that share very often resources. We still have to think about the job execution, it might be that a resource is connected to more than one site, but we are not sure yet. We have to test all scenarios once we gather more ideas. I was wondering in the meantime if a structure like this could impact PSO.
