Hi,

Is it possible, either in IFS or PSO, to book a human resource (a technician) without the creation of a work order? (Similarly to the creation of an outlook meeting)

For example : book a technician for 3 hours on a Tuesday morning without a work order or any detail of the work to do and later on add the work order once we have the information.

Thanks ,

Nethmini

Hi @Nethmini Kosvinna,

You can put a fixed unavailability in but this would not be planned or moved by PSO.

Does the slot need to planned with the rest of the schedule?

If so you could create a dummy WO with generic data. Be aware though that once this is updated with the true information this would then change the value of the WO given by the plan and would likely cause it to move in the plan.

Kind regards,

Lee Pinchbeck

If you don’t want to create a work order, may be you can use a private activity to book the time first, then commit the work order on top of that once it is created.

Another option is to change the shift pattern for the day (i.e. use a manual shift for 3 hours) so that once the WO is created, you can assign it to the manual shift.

There can be other firm options than this but nothing comes to the mind. Welcome others’ comments too. :)

Hi Nethmini,

In PSO you can use unavailabilities for a resource from the planning workspace for the duration you wish the resource to not contribute to other work.

Also you can assign a PRIVATE activity to a resource for a period of time in which a resource is unavailable for normal activities (for example, holiday, sickness, training, etc.). Private Appointments need to be sent with a status committing the activity to a resource at a fixed date and time, and specifying its duration.

Dayan
