I had a report that was working but needed to be tweaked. 

  • I  opened the the rdl in Report Builder,
  • made a tiny tweak
  • saved the rdl
  • .resaved it as an rdlc in Notepad
  • upload the Report into Report Admin in the UI 
  • I refreshed cache

When I run the report I get “An error occurred during local report processing.”  This is happening on any report that is updated and reloaded in report admin.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You mention that the report was first opened as a rdl, then saved as rdl then resaved as a rdlc.

So was the original format of the report a rdl or rdlc? What is in the first node of the report? Does it have ‘xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2016/01/reportdefinition”’ and "http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner" and is there a third entry that starts with xmlns:cl? I suspect that report builder changed the structure of the report and just changing the report type from rdl to rdlc will not correct the structure of the report definition.
